Malice offers a yearly 3-day weekend educational and writing retreat each fall, held in Memphis at St. Columba’s Sanders Lodge with special guests and crash courses in everything from brainstorming to voice. Critique groups are a popular activity, as well as brainstorming and story building opportunities. Malice did not conduct a retreat in 2020 due to COVID-19. Plans for a 2021 retreat are pending national safety guidelines allowing for group gatherings. Members' and guests' safety and health are top priority for Malice in Memphis.

Sanders Lodge sleeps up to 20 people in five bedrooms with two bunk-beds each. Each room has its own bathroom and all sheets & towels are provided free of charge. The building has a large common room and a kitchen equipped to serve 25.
