FEBRUARY 11 | WEB DESIGN FOR WRITERS
You're a writer.
A builder of worlds.
The master of words.
Not a techie Web Master who can write code like Shakespeare could pen a sonnet!
But eventually you will need to have a Web site to promote yourself and your writing. Whether you go the route of doing it yourself or hire someone to do it for you, there are certain details you need to know before you buy the domain name.
Join Marketing Specialist and Malice Member Lynn Maples as he walks us through the process of building a website, provides examples of what works/what doesn't and resources that will come in handy once the Under Construction sign goes up.
If you have questions you'd like address during the presentation, please email him at email@example.com.
About The Speaker:
Lynn Maples is an award-winning marketing/communications professional and former journalist. He has spent the last two decades honing his skills for both profit and not-for-profit industry leaders. The diversity of projects in both sectors has allowed him to understand how to stay within budget, think creatively, and effectively strategize for the best ROI. While writing is at the core of what he does, his skills are not limited to the written word. He has the ability to create and design marketing campaigns and publications which have garnered 35 local and national marketing/communications awards. Most notably, between 2010-13 the Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) campaign titled “Save Your Veins” caught the attention of the National Kidney Foundation, who requested to fund and use the campaign nationwide.
His eye for visual impact helped to develop his employer's corporate and subsidiary branding recognized nationally as award-winning. His general knowledge of processes and understanding how a part affects the whole has been beneficial as he has served as the Traffic and Projects Coordinator for the MarCom team. In this role he oversaw the timeliness of project deadlines, outlined processes to meet the project’s needs and provided creative and strategic insight to team members.
At times he wants to call it quits and tell everyone to take a flying leap off a very high mountain, but his professionalism and need to pay the bills keeps his butt in the chair and leg chained to the desk. Although he dreams of being an internationally renowned author of paranormal romance and historical novels, he has resolved that he is better at making typos and sneering at coworkers who don’t know how to manage their time. And he despises self-centered “look at me” people. He doesn’t need the competition.
